Dhikala :- Dhikala is the most well known of the popluar
tourist destinations in Corbett. It is located at the edge
of the broad Patli Dun valley through which the Ramganga flows
in numerous channels. Dhikala offers an awesome uninterrupted
panoramic view of the valley, with the Kanda ridge in the
backdrop. This sight appears all the more imposing from the
watchtower near Dhikala. The Tourist Complex overlooks Dhikala
chaur (one of the largest remaining grasslands of the Corbett
National Park) and Phulai chaur. A drive through the numerous
trails through chaurs is rewarded with sightings of Tigers.
wild elephants, chital, hog deer and numerous grassland bird
species and raptors. The old forest rest house at Dhikala
is a historic structure, having been built over a hundred
years ago by Britishers.
Dhikala Corbett National Park - Corbett National Park Dhikala
Situated around 50 km inside the forest. Therefore
even transfer to and fro is an Amazing Wildlife Jungle
Safari in itself. Further the adjacent dam reservoir
makes it the most picturesque location in Corbett National
Park.
The surrounding forest safari routes boast of a mix of grassland,
water body and dense forest making it the best place in corbett
for animal sightings. Visiting Dhikala is a true jungle
experience.
Dhikala Forest Lodge - Dhikala FRH :- The FRH is build
on the banks of a river and has excellent views. The rooms
are neat & clean. The blankets & sheets are clean & warm.
The food is vegetarian and very good. The FRH is surrounded
by an electric fence to keep out wild animals. At night the
moonlight and fog makes the river look more beautiful.
Honestly there is only one reason to stay inside the Dhikala
Forest Rest House and that is the fact that it is inside
the deep jungle in Corbett National Park which has amazing
wildlife plus Dhikala Forest Rest House has a lovely view,
you can hear birdsong all the time and time slows down here.

Monekys etc. This FRH is maintained & owned by govt & gettting

and species that can be observed here include Osprey, Peregrine
Falcon, Cinereous Vulture, Red-Headed Vulture, Pallas's Fish

Some Points to Keep in mind prior bookings in Dhikala
Dhikala is just a FRH (Forest Rest House maintained by Government)
NOT a Luxury Suite. Just simple rooms with limited
room service. The bathrooms are large, tiled and have a geyser
but nothing fancy as expected.
Dhikala is almost 50 kms inside the forest from the
entrance gate (Dhangarhi). The ride is a bit bumpy.
We provide transportation to the FRH.
FRH has basic medical facilities. It is highly advisable to
carry all the necessary medication and water bottles.
FRH complex has a library and an auditorium to show movie
on wildlife.
Inside FRH NO mobile signals are available as you are
inside a deep jungle. There are no landlines available inside
the FRH.
ONLY Veg Food is provided inside the FRH restaurant.
Dhikala also it has many restrictions and walking is
prohibited in this zone except in designated areas.
Do take your night stay permit before proceeding any
further towards FRH Dhikala. You will not be permitted
beyond Dhangarhi unless you have the permit.
No airconditioning but the coolers are enough since
it is a bit cooler when you are inside the jungle.
If you are serious about your wildlife this is definitely
the place to stay. Not the place for those seeking a luxurious
relaxing holiday.
Only book if you are genuinly interested in wilderness.
Also, don't be tiger-crazy. If you spot it, you are lucky
if not, you still have so much before you. The sheer location
of the FRH provides a mystic experience. Also, we suggest,
do not miss out on Elephant Safari.
If you think agree with above points then All in all, you
are in for a Fantastic Jungle Experience !!!
