SAFARI:
When you want to explore the wilds of
Jim Corbett National Park, the option
is to board a jeep. Jeep safari
in Jim corbett national park is
the most secure way if you don't want
to get scared when you hear the growl
of a Tiger! more of all corbett jeep
safari is the best way to get the inside
look of the forest and its topography
& also to cover maximum area to
cover inside the forest in stipulated
time frame.
There are four forest zones that can
be visited for safari:
- Jhirana (Round the year)
- Bijrani and Durgadevi (From 1 Oct to 30 June)
- Sitabani (Round the year)
There
are two safaris that can be taken in
a day
Morning- from 6 A.M. to 10 A.M.
Evening- from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M.
Every
morning 30 jeeps are allowed
to travel into various forest zones
of Corbett National Park and same pattern
follows in the afternoon safari. One
can book only morning safari in advance
whereas for afternoon safari bookings
are done on first come first serve basis
on the same day.
Bijrani
Jeep Safari:
Located at a distance of 1 Km is the
Aamdanda entrance. After travelling
5 Kms. of buffer zone you reach Bijrani
tourist zone from where actual jeep
safari starts. Jeep safari in Bijrani
is the most popular amongst the tourist
in Jim Corbett National Park. One can
also enjoy Elephant safari here (Subject
to availability)
Jhirna
Jeep Safari:
Famous for its wild bear, Jhirna tourist
zone is located 16 kms. from Ramnagar
and the area is full of natural beauty.
Jhirna is famous for open grassland
here you can spot tiger and deers.
To visit this area we can collect the
permit from Corbett Tiger Reserve reception
center. From Ramnagar 25 jeep are permitted
for this zone and rest 5 jeep come from
Kalagarh gate. This zone is open in
rainy season also.
Durgadevi
Jeep Safari:
Durgadevi safari zone in corbett national
park is farthest from Ramnagar at 28
km. This zone is a hilly area and is
situated along the banks of Ramganga
River. Besides looking at wildlife,
you can also look at popular Mahasheer
fish in the river waters. On your way
you can halt at Dhangarhi museum.
Sitabani
Jeep Safari:
Sitabani area is not considered
in Corbett Tiger Reserve. Sitabani
is associated with the Ramayana, a Hindu
epic. It is believed that Sita, the
protagonist of Ramayana, spent her days
stranded in exile during the agnipariksha
episode. Sitabani is a birdwatchers
paradise and there is an ashram tucked
away in the jungle.
Sitabani is deep inside the forest and
is under ASI - Archaeological Survey
of India. Ancient Valmiki temple is
also located here. This forest houses
wildlife like tiger, elephant, deer,
sambar, barking deer, porcupine, king
cobra and lots more.
This area is open round the year for Safari and there is no limit of vehicles entering the area. Corbett national park authority not issue permit for this. Sitabani forest department issue the slip for this safari.
Open
Bus Safari or Canter Safari in Dhikala
Dhikala is the most
well known of the popluar tourist destinations
in Corbett. It is located at the edge
of the broad Patli Dun valley through
which the Ramganga flows in numerous
channels. Dhikala offers an awesome
uninterrupted panoramic view of the
valley, with the Kanda ridge in the
backdrop. This sight appears all the
more imposing from the watchtower near
Dhikala. The Tourist Complex overlooks
Dhikala chaur (one of the largest remaining
grasslands of the Park) and Phulai chaur.
A drive through the numerous trails
through chaurs is rewarded with sightings
of wild elephants, chital, hog deer
and numerous grassland bird species
and raptors.
Canter Safari in Dhikala Zone (From 15 Nov. to 15 June) Only by Project Tiger's conducted Canter Safari, which can be managed if prior information available with ID proof. One can board the canter either at Ramnagar or Dhangari gate.

Elephant
Safari - Corbett
For those who wish to view the wildlife
from close quarters, the best way to
explore the Corbett national park, is
on the back of an elephant. Elephant
ride is a unique experience for the
visitors of Corbett national park. It
can be adventurous at times and at times
can be very peaceful. This ride of modern
mammoth often provides amazing sightings
getting deep into the jungle which can
not be explored by other means of safaris.

Nature
Hike
Nature Hike, the best way to experience
the dense jungle around Corbett national
park. It gives the feel how the villagers
used to travel from one village to the
other crossing dense jungles resting
at water sources. There are many treks
depending upon the difficulty level
of the trek. Nature trek is allowed
only at few areas and is restricted
at most of the areas of the Corbett
national park.
Bird
Watching
With more than 500 resident Species
of Birds & over 1000 Including Migratory,
Corbett is the paradise for bird watchers.
Mixed vegetations including thick sal
forest and grasslands are home to many
Himalayan birds and also attracts many
migratory birds most of them visiting
the Corbett national park in winters.
Bird watching is also done in buffer
zone of Corbett national park where
lots of birds nest near human settlement.
Best time for bird watching at Corbett
national park is from November to March.

Park
Garjiya
Temple :
14 kms. from Ramnagar, on the way to
Ranikhet, is a huge rock in the midst
of river Kosi. This place has been named
Garjia Devi after the deity. The temple
is visited by thousands of devotees
from different parts of the state. A
large fair is held here on kartik Poornima.
Corbett
Falls :
Corbett falls is located 3 kms from
Kaladhungi which is a welcome by nature
with sound of water. Corbett falls is
very much similar to the famous Kempty
falls in Mussoorie, but Corbett falls
is not spoiled by tourists and locals
as compared to Kempty falls. The cool
clear water cascading from a height
is a beauty worth admiring. Above all,
the passage that leads you to the Corbett
Falls will fascinate you much before
you reach there. The 1.7 kms long path
with chirping and flights of birds send
you a clarion call for a heaven ahead.
Corbett Fall is undoubtedly beautiful;
rustling leaves and killing silence
definitely charm every visitor here.
The wide area around the water falls provides very good parking and camping facilities. It is a very nice picnic spot. A nearby attraction is ‘Nature Walk' museum, where one can experience the pure nature in its primitive style and calm.
