         Nanakmatta is in Udham Singh Nagar district in the Indian state 
        of Uttarakhand, northern India. It is situated between Khatima and Sitarganj 
        on the Khatima - Panipat Road, 18 kms from Khatima and 12 kms from Sitarganj 
        in Uttarakhand (India). 
 
  Nanakmatta Sahib Gurudwara 
 Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and also the founder of Sikh religion, 
        had visited this place. It is because of this that Nanak Matta is a great 
        centre of pilgrimage for the Sikhs. A beautiful Gurudwara is built here 
        and the lake in front of the Gurudwara provides the place with an unparalleled 
        serene touch.
 
 Every year, thousand of Sikhs pilgrims visit this holy place for stay 
        at Nanak Matta, a Tourist Rest House is available. Pilgrims can also stay 
        at the Gurudwara.
 
 
  History of Nanakmatta :- 
 Gurdwara Sri Nanak Mata Sahib is associated with the first Guru, Guru 
        Nanak Dev ji who went there during his third Udasi in 1514 A.D. 
        At that time, Gurdwara Sri Nanak Mata Sahib was the abode of the devotees 
        of Guru Gorakhnath and it was called "Gorakhmata". The yogis who lived 
        there did not want the local people to become learned enough to challenge 
        his superiority. Therefore, by using their occult power, they successfully 
        exploited the poor people and obtain advantage due to their ignorance.
 
 
  Geography of Nanakmatta :- 
 Nanakmatta is located at 28.93 °N 79.70 °E. It has an average elevation 
        of 298 metres (978 feet).
 
 
  Location of Nanak Matta :- 
 Nanak Matta is situated on Rudrapur-Tanakpur motor route and is situated 
        at a distance of 56 kms from Rudrapur. It is easily approachable by bus 
        or train as regular services from Rudrapur. The Gurdwara is located 15 
        kilometres west of Khatima Railway Station on the Pilibhit-Tanakpur metre-gauge 
        section of North-Eastern Railway. The holy shrine is 12 km from the town 
        Sitarganj.
 
 
  Nanak Matta Dam 
 This is a big dam that has been constructed on river Saryu at Nanak Matta 
        forming Nanak Sagar which adds up to the beauty of Nanakmatta.
 
 Nanak Matta is not only a dam but also a very beautiful picnic spot. The 
        quite air and the still lake waters make a perfect mixture and one seems 
        to drift slowly in the silence of the serene environ.
 
 Boating and fishing can also be done at the lake. Boating facilities are 
        available at the lake. The dam is situated 56 kms from Rudrapur.
